DHI Technique
What is DHI Technique?
DHI Hair Implantation is a common method that emerged with the development of Follicular Unit Transplantation.
It’s seen that the hair begins to thin in most men around the age of 50. In women, this is also a fact at a major rate throughout their life span. Hair implantation has very advanced and high-tech treatments today and so many options are available. The two most common of these are Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicle Transfer (FUE).
How is DHI Technique performed?
Firstly, an incision is made on the skin at the back of the head and the hair is removed one by one. In the Follicle Transfer method, this process is performed directly. The hair is removed as a result of both operations and is placed in areas where there is no hair on the skin. New hair grows there in this way.
In the FUE method, the hair follicles are implanted after the canals in the scalp are removed by the surgeon. In the DHI method, a pen-shaped device is used that can perform two operations at the same time. The duration of the operation varies from anywhere between 8 hours to 12 hours. The exact time varies depending on the number of hair follicles to be transplanted. It’s necessary to wait at least 1 year to see the full results.
The procedure mainly follows these steps:
- The patient’s hair is shaved. Local anesthesia is given to the area.
- The hair follicles are removed by using a special tool.
- The extracted roots are implanted on the balding areas of the scalp with a tool such as a pen.
- Finally, the transplanted area is bandaged.
Do I need DHI Technique?
Men and women who have more hair loss than normal rate and have a type of disease in this regard, especially prefer this method. There are also some significant parameters below:
It’s necessary to be over 25 years old for DHI surgery. Because starting from the age of 25, hair loss is more predictable.
Thick-haired candidates can be counted luckier than thin-haired candidates. Thick hair covers more space on the scalp.
The hair density in the hair transplant area should be high. (Approximately 50 follicles per centimeter)
It’s also important that the person who wants to be performed the DHI technique has realistic expectations.
What are the risks and side effects of the DHI Technique?
Hair implantation is now quite safe and the risk of complications is low, with the developing technologies today. The DHI method is simpler than other methods in hair treatments because it does not require many incisions. Some scars may remain on the scalp after the operation.
Bleeding, pain, infection, and sudden hair loss can be seen, in addition to that, as a result of the operation, an undesirable appearance can be obtained.
