Neck Lift Surgery
Neck lift surgery, known as platysmaplasty; aims to get rid of the jowl that usually occurs as a result of sagging of the neck skin with aging. It is performed with a procedure close to facelift surgery. Basically, the chin area of the patient becomes tighter after the operation.
The neck is an important area cause where deformation due to aging usually starts first and attracts the most attention from the outside. The skin of the neck becomes loose and dries over time.
Although it’s exposed to almost the same external factors as the facial skin, it’s not given as much care as other parts of the face. There are lots of patients whose neck skin forms worse than their face skin. Therefore, neck lift surgery can be applied together with facelift surgery.
Neck Lift Surgery: Procedure
Neck lift surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or under general anesthesia. Sedation is also the third option.
Depending on the degree of change desired by the patient, the traditional neck lift procedure or the procedure performed with a limited incision is applied. The surgeon makes small incisions behind both ears and under the chin. The fat can be reshaped or dispersed. The tissue under the neck skin is repositioned. The incisions are then closed with sutures. In addition, the fat in the area is absorbed with a special device. Only people with excess fat on their necks can solve this problem with liposuction. Liposuction is the most popular part of the procedure.
However, liposuction cannot fix some of the problems that belong to the appearance of the neck. In the consultation between the patient and the doctor, all treatment options are seen and the planning is determined.
Neck Lift Surgery: Candidates
People who can be good candidates for neck lift surgery: They are non-smokers, have good medical records, and have realistic expectations. Many patients with excessively wrinkled neck skin and jowl lines prefer neck lift surgery.
After Neck Lift Surgery

All instructions on how to care for the treated area, and what to follow against the risk of infection are given to the patient by the surgeon. It is recommended that the patient keep his head elevated for a while and not apply cold compresses to his neck.
