No Touch Laser

“What is No Touch Laser?”: It’s the name of the surgery in which the epithelial layer of the eye, named also the cornea, is treated without contacting any medical device. It’s commonly preferred by patients who do not want to use glasses and lenses. In other applications which related to the cornea, incisions are made. By using the No Touch Laser, the operation is performed without making an incision, by looking at the laser only from a certain distance.

No Touch Laser: Procedure

No touch laser, that is, non-contact laser treatment, is performed under anesthesia. In this way, the patient does not feel any pain during the operation. There is no contact with the eyes during the treatment. After the procedure, the eyes do not need to be closed, the patient can be discharged with both eyes open. It can be applied to both eyes in a single session. Other conventional laser treatments that end the use of glasses and contact lenses all involve eye contact procedures. This is a concern for patients wishing to have laser surgery. No touch laser technique, which is an advanced technique, ensures that patients do not experience this fear. During the application, it is sufficient for the patient to look at the light source for about 20 seconds. The laser is applied directly without removing the epithelial tissue at the top of the cornea. The thickness of the epithelium of the cornea is not the same for every patient. After the patient is discharged, symptoms such as redness, slight stinging sensation, and slightly blurred vision can be seen within 36 hours. From the fourth day after the operation, the patient can return to his daily life.
